As I've been beating my head through this forum for hours looking for a solution, I concede its time to ask for help. I am trying to use my readynas 4200 as a backup target for my Backup Exec Server.
Telugu bhakti audio mp3. RAIDiator 4.2.21 (was installed today, BEFORE I started messing with the ralus agent) - NAS box is NOT part of an AD environment, workgroup only Windows 2008 R2 - Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP2, Hotfixes 180429 & 176937 installed - part of an AD environment I cannot get BackupExec13.0.5204.1-x86.bin to work. Gives me the following in my logs Fri Sep 14 01:34:20 EDT 2012 The BackupExec add-on encountered an error during installation. Fri Sep 14 01:34:20 EDT 2012 Backup Exec Remote Agent has been successfully installed. I rebooted the NAS after installation, went to the add-ons panel, entered BE server IP, had the pretty green traffic light. But - there were no entries under the Linux/Unix servers section.
Rebooted each machine as well to be sure. After uninstalling and re-installing a few times I gave up. I decided to try BackupExec12.5.3-x86.bin. That seems to work. I see the NAS box under Linux Unix servers now. One problem though, it seems to only work with the user ID ADMIN. No other ID will work.
This is also the case when i try to use a user-defined section in BE to go after a nas share. Couldn't find any documentation on user ID usage. Any help appreciated. Maybe i find a temporary solution. I use v12.5.3 and it works by editing the ralus.cfg file on the nas system. ( you must install the ssh addon) My jobs complete successfully for the moment since I change it: Try these steps -Stop the RALUS service by running the command 'etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init stop” - Run the command 'vi /etc/VRTSralus/ralus.cfg” Find the line which says “Software Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Backup Exec Agents Agent Directory List”. Check if there are two entries of these. If not add the following entries using the VI editor.
![]()
( before editing you can do a backup of the ralus.cfg config file: ' cp ralus.cfg ralus.cfg.ori ' ) Software Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Backup Exec Agents Agent Directory List 1= Software Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Backup Exec Agents Agent Directory List 2= After adding the above entries, start the RALUS service run “etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init start” And Please re-check.
I have backup exec 12 setup on windows 2008 servers doing backups, its backing up all my windows 2003 server ok, i just installed backupexec agent for linux on one of my linux server, install went ok, i started the service and now i see it on the 'backup selection list' but when i click on it to expand drive to backup it give me network error. I think that is because the backup exec doesnt have the proper credentials to log into that linux server. Where would i be able to add the root account to backup exec? Still no dice, i restarted it just in case, its up and running. root@webdev # /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init restart Stopping Symantec Backup Exec Remote Agent. Backup Exec Remote Agent
Starting Symantec Backup Exec Remote Agent: OK the weird thing, is when i try to make a new backup selection, it wont let me check the linux server so when i click on 'resource credentials' tab, its blank and it won let me change or add user. It only lets me change when i make a selection to backup a local folder (meaning it only shows up when i have a selection checked, but i cant select a linux selection). I havent found a solution yet, but after a reboot from centos server i got this error An error was encountered while attempting to browse the contents of (servername) The Media server could not connect to the remote computer. The remote computer may not be running the backup exec Remote agent for Windows/Linux. Make sure that the correct version of the Remote Agent is installed and running on the target computer. For more information on this error, click here V-79- what im doing now till i find a solution is using wsftp to manually copy files to a windows server that is being backed up. I will post update if i find a solution, let me know how yours go also. Ok - so once I installed the 12.0 agent, everything worked like a charm.
Install Ralus Agent Backup Exec 12.5 For Windows Servers
I had 2 servers with this issue and I uninstalled the 12.5 version which Symantec gave me when I purchased the agent and installed the 12.0 agent, plus a patch the tech gave me. Agent file name: BEWS12.1364LINUX-UNIX-MA CAGENTS.t ar.gz Patch name: ralus1364HF306950-Linux64. Tar308032.gz Note that I had to get a special serial number from Symantec to get the 12.0 agent downloaded. No other jiggery-pokery was required.
